As per the letter No. F-5-121/2005/38 of Chhattisgarh Government's Higher education department administrative permission was granted for Govt. Naveen College at Bijapur in Dantewada district. Consequently commissioner Higher Education Raipur granted permission to start undergraduate courses in Science, Arts and Commerce for the session 2006-07 and appoint 19 temporary posts.
The beginning of the college was under Principal, Govt. College, Dantewada in a hostel in Bijapur. From July 2008 to July 2012 Old Collectorate building (Now Livelihood College) was used to run the college.
