As per the letter No. F-5-121/2005/38 of Chhattisgarh Government's Higher education department administrative permission was granted for Govt. Naveen College at Bijapur in Dantewada district. Consequently commissioner Higher Education Raipur granted permission to start undergraduate courses in Science, Arts and Commerce for the session 2006-07 and appoint 19 temporary posts. 

The beginning of the college was under Principal, Govt. College, Dantewada in a hostel in Bijapur. From July 2008 to July 2012 Old Collectorate building (Now Livelihood College) was used to run the college. In 2012, it was shifted to a new building next to Jaitalur Road Municipality, 3 km from Bijapur, started with 21 rooms and three labs. 

Govt.pg College bijapur had a humble start with just 4 room and 7 lecturers. It came under the cg in 2006. It has been disseminating knowledge and awareness through education over past 11 years .bijapur is situated in bijapur district in the state of Chhattisgarh. The area consists mostly of ST, SC and OBC students. It is the only college of the district within 3 km range .It became affiliated to bvvjdp in 2006 and became a government institution. The college was shifted to its present building constructed in 2007 by the government of cg, with B.A, B.SC and BCOM programmers’. Undergraduate course in B.SC and B.COM B.A 2009 .Later PG programmer of MA economics, MA sociology, MA Hindi M.A. ENGLISH literature were introduced in 2017.MSC chemistry and M.SC zoology programmer’ MSC BOTANY were started in 2021 Every year a large number of rural students both boys and girls take admission in different programmers of UG and PG. .,It has campus of about 15 acres . It is affiliated to bastar university since 2009.At present the institution offers UG and PG courses in Arts, commerce and science .In UG courses B.A ,B.SC ,B.COM and in PG courses M.SC (Zoology and Chemistry) ,M.A (sociology, economics, Hindi literature, English literature ) is currently run by the institution .In B.A political science ,sociology ,economics, Hindi literature, English literature subjects ,in B.sc math’s ,botany ,zoology ,chemistry ,physics and in B COM all compulsory subjects are offered in the institution. Presently the college has 21 class rooms, 01 seminar hall NSS room, 4 labs, one library room, a gymnasium and a canteen .The college has student strength of 430 in the current session. The college is serving the society by giving education to tribal and rural students majority of them are first generation learners. To be acknowledged has a proactive institution which strives hard to fulfill the aspiration of students help them in developing sound knowledge base correct skills attitudes and understanding to enable them to sail confidently through complexities and challenges of life.
